This month we feature new pottery from Clay Necessities.  Potter Barb Howe has sent over her popular reds, blues and browns including mugs (get them now because they won’t last) sushi sets and large decorative bowls in all three colours.

There are also two lovely new watercolours from artist Paul Healey featuring songbirds.   We haven’t seen much work in this medium from Paul lately and it’s a nice addition to his existing oil and pastel paintings.

Dunes Plate from potter Erica Fava

We have a new potter with us this month.  Her name is Erica Fava and she is from Bouctouche.  A graduate of the craft college in Fredericton, she has two collections of work called the Dunes and the Swirl. The collections both feature soup bowls, plates, mugs, mixing bowls and platters in soft blues, greens and earthtones.  Very pretty and functional for eating and drinking.

Handworks is now open until 8pm Thursday- Saturday, and open from 11-4pm on Sundays.

Tis the season for lots of great stuff!

Handworks artists have brought in boxes of beautiful work just in time for the holidays.  We have new pieces by jeweler Gisele Theriault- The Barber’s Daughter.  Colourful, inspirational and unique would be the best words to use to describe her work.    Necklaces, bracelets and earring garlore!

Along more lines of jewellery are favorites Lynda Constantine and lots of work by Jonathan Corey of Masterworks Jewellery.
You’re be sure to find something for everyone on your list.

Potters have also been working hard delivering lots of functional dinnerwear for those family get-togethers.  Crimmins pottery have a new line out called Lemongrass.  With soft greens and grey it’s a great pattern that puts a new spin on an old favorite.

On the painting front we just recieved new work by artist Paul Healey.  Several lovely winter city scenes are featured.  You can visit them by clicking here.

Cliff Turner has just bought in his lastest trompe ’oeil still life as well as a piece titled Beauty School.  This piece depicts the Beauty School on Union Street and has Cliff’s signature reflective style

Don’t forget, Handworks ships and offers free

Happy Canada Day!

What better way to celebrate our great nation than to purchase an item made by a local craftsperson
Just in:  Brand new Raku pieces hot off the fire from Gagetown potter and craft school professor, Peter Thomas.
New still life work from Cliff Turner- and the subject is money.  Pottery bowls and whimsical mugs from fan favorite Darren Emenau. What’s that, a dog on wheels you say?  Yes and giraffes, kitty cats and birds gracing your mugs for everyone’s amusement.

We still have an assortment of colourful dishwear left over from our show with David Eastwood of Clay Design Inc.  Very fun and practical place settings for the home or cottage- now we just need some sun.

We are the spot for your wedding, retirement and conference gifts.  Our stock is always changing so stop by often.

June 24/08

We’re thrilled to welcome a new shipment of whimsical lawn sculptures from artist Don Pell, including dragons, roosters, dandelions that twirl in the wind and planter heads.

On the jewellery front, June has brought us a full stock of lovely work by Lynda Constantine including her latest collection called Journey.  This award winning design incorporates twists and turns of sterling silver and 14kt gold gold balls.  The line’s design represents the path we take through life that is often windy with a few bumps along the way- hence the name ’Journey’.

Left: the Journey pendant by Constantine Designs, $ 165.00

We have several new pieces by Gisele Theriault of The Barber’s Daughter in stock and all of Bejewel by Trudy Gallagher is priced down to 30% off.  We also just received new work from Jeneca Klausen, so hurry in because it wont last long.

The cruise ships have started to arrive and we’re happy to welcome visitors to Saint John with locally made fine art, craft and jewellery.  We also have been helping lots of local visitors find wedding, retirement and graduation gifts, all wrapped up and ready for the big day, whichever one that may be.

A new and popular combination gift idea we have been featuring are the whale tail mugs by Liza McDonald and fair trade coffee from The Red Whale.  They work well together in form and function.  They make great conference gifts for larger groups.  You can click on The Red Whale’s website at www.redwhalecoffee.com or visit their new location on the Clark road in Rothesay.
